New analysis from ShopFully, the leading digital platform connecting shoppers with retailers, reveals that Aussies are already searching for Summer essentials in October, starting the search much earlier than they have in the past – possibly due to concerns around delivery delays in the lead up to the holidays.
Aussies are searching more online with the overall search volume on ShopFully platforms (mobile app and desktop) having increased by 23% this October vs October 2019. For instance, online searches for vacuums are up 184% this month compared to the rest of the year, while searches for blenders, fridges and airfryers are also up 106%, 119% and 45% respectively. Interest in pools (+85%), trampolines (+10%) and sunglasses (+165%) has also increased.

As international travel is off the cards for the rest of the year, it’s also no surprise that searches for tyres are up 87% as Australians explore the country and plan more local road trips.
“When considering lockdowns, restrictions and lingering health concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, increased searches for home appliances and goods reflects the growing trend of staying in or people anticipating a stay-at-home Christmas with their family and friends”, comments Dean Vocisano, Country Manager Australia at ShopFully.
In spite of the pandemic, Aussies are also sticking to their usual shopping habits when they visit brick and mortar stores. Thursday remains the most popular day of the week for shopping, with Monday being the least popular. Saturday morning is also particularly busy as 40% more Aussies shop in stores when compared to other mornings.
“ShopFully provides consumers with relevant and geo-targeted promotions nearby, saving time and empowering them to make the most of their in-store experiences. We partner with more than 700 retailers and brands globally, meaning that Aussies can be confident they’re getting the best possible deals,” adds Dean.
